Listen to this with earphones . . .

This is simply one of the most gorgeous pieces of music you will ever hear.  Of course, Mozart being Mozart, all is not as it seems: Don Alphonso is sniggering behind the backs of the girls who, sorry to say, just aren't that bright.  This particular production is beautifully staged, by the way; the set and the lighting in this scene look uncannily like one of those paintings by Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema that they always use as illustrations in introductory Greek textbooks.
